Netflix Reveals Launch Model As Fantasy Epic Tops Streamer’s Weekly Ratings

Vikings: Walhalla swung its sword atop Netflix’s weekly ratings chart as the streamer revealed how its 24-episode order will be split.

The first eight episodes of the Jeb Stuart-created series launched on February 25 and has been watched for 113 million hours by subscribers. This placed it at the top of Netflix’s Top 10 English Language Series in the United States as well as 90 countries, placing Inventing Anna in second place. In its first nine days, it totaled 194 million hours watched.

No More Deadline

The streamer revealed that the eight-episode second chapter wrapped in County Wicklow, Ireland, and is set to air in 2023. Production on the eight-episode third chapter will begin later this spring.

Stuart remains showrunner and executive producer for the second and third chapters with Sam Corlett, who plays Leif Eriksson, Frida Gustavsson as Freydis Eriksdotter, and Leo Suter as Harald Sigurdsson reprising their roles.

The series, which is produced by MGM Television and is a sequel to the History Channel original, chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived.

As tensions between the Vikings and the English royal family reach a bloody breaking point and the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs, these three Vikings begin an epic journey that will take them across oceans. and the battlefields, from Kattegat to England and beyond, as they fight for survival and glory.

Stuart exec produces alongside Morgan O’Sullivan, Vikings creator Michael Hirst, Sheila Hockin, Steve Stark, James Flynn, John Weber, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and Paul Buccieri, who previously directed A+E Studios.

Stuart thanked fans for watching. “The numbers have been mind-boggling and beyond my wildest expectations. I am delighted to be able to confirm that we have finished and are already in the process of editing season two and that production will begin soon for season three. While the stories of Leif, Freydis, Harald, Olaf, Canute and the rest of our amazing cast are under wraps, I can say without hesitation that their journeys will be even more epic than what you’ve seen so far.
