Christie Brinkley Says Daughter Asked Her To Stop Using Word ‘Fattening’ To Describe Food

In a new interview, Christie Brinkley, 67, explained how far the fashion industry has come.

As the star of the Holiday 2021 issue of Westlake Malibu Lifestyle magazine, she noted that changes in mainstream media are affecting the way young people think.

For example, the longtime model mentioned that her 21-year-old daughter Sailor Brinkley asked her to stop using the word “fattening” to describe food.

I got it anyway! In a new interview, Christie Brinkley, 67, explained how far the fashion industry has come

“For example, when I talk about certain foods like making you fat, my daughter Sailor will say, ‘Mom, please don’t use that word. A more positive way to put it is to say, “This food is not healthy for me” or “It’s not going to provide me with the fuel I need,” she explained.

Her daughter courageously admitted to having suffered from an eating disorder in the past.

Brinkley shared his thoughts on the evolution of the fashion industry, remarking: “Young women used to pick up fashion magazines and felt horrible because all the models were as thin as reeds and looked nothing like the girls reading the pages.

Now, she says, “When you open a fashion magazine, you see people of all ages, ethnicities and shapes – and that portrayal is so important. ”

She cited a personal example to explain how, due to changing times, younger generations are more aware of harmful language.

“After New York, they asked me to do London and I was the headliner for the national tour. Right before Covid hit, I was able to go back and start over. We played in Las Vegas and went back to Broadway again.
