Hosted by the Oak Bay Community Artists Society, the annual Bowker Creek Brush-up Art Exhibition and Sale returns for 2021 and takes place on Sunday, August 8.

“We all had to stay home last year, so we’re more excited than ever for this year’s art show,” said company president Flo-Elle Watson. “Artists haven’t stopped working in 2020, so there are some great new works to see. ”

The artists featured in the exhibit and sale are from Oak Bay and the greater Victoria area. Participants come from all over the region for the one-day event. Artists include painters, potters, textile and multimedia artists, jewelry designers, porcelain painters, sculptors, card makers, photographers and more.

More than 40 artists will demonstrate their skills and exhibit their work. The event also includes community organizations, which interact with the public and answer questions.

Music, a charity barbecue and the Oak Bay Recreation Kids Art Tent complete the offering.

“There is something for everyone at this event,” says Watson, “from the fine art collector and small memorabilia to families trying out new art techniques”.

The event takes place on the Bowker Creek footbridge between Hampshire Road and Armstrong Avenue with parking on Hampshire, Fireman’s Park or Oak Bay High School. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Artists are encouraged to apply and participate through
