When former investment banker Falguni Nayar decided to enter the beauty business, her sounding board for all ideas was her daughter, Adwaita, who was still in college when Nykaa was taking shape. Adwaita, daughter of Falguni and Sanjay Nayar, came home for a three-month break while still a student and worked with her mother to set up the foundation for the business, including the wireframe. of the company’s website, which remains the same as it was when the company started about 10 years ago. As CEO of Nykaa Fashion, Adwaita’s job is a challenge: to strengthen the brand’s presence in the highly competitive and seasonal fashion space.
“What people want to achieve in two years, we want to achieve in the next six months”
She says when her team tells her how many brands have been incorporated, her first question is to ask how many have been rejected. Today, Nykaa offers more than 4,000 brands and has 20 warehouses and 80 stores in 40 cities. The company recently went public and its listing was one of the most successful, oversubscribed 81.78 times on the last day of subscription.
